The Sydney Northern Districts Table Tennis Association (SNDTTA), formerly called The Manly Warringah District Table Tennis Association (MWDTTA), was formed at a meeting held at South Curl Curl Surf Lifesaving Club on 18 April 1950.  The aim of the Association is to promote and support table tennis throughout its area by organising team competitions and an annual district championship and by encouraging people, including children, to participate in one of the world’s greatest sports.  While the activities of the Association in the early days were concentrated mainly in the beachside suburbs of northern Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, its club catchment area has gradually expanded to include many of the inland suburbs of northern Sydney such as Willoughby, Thornleigh, Hornsby, Forestville and now the Hills District.  The Association became affiliated with Table Tennis New South Wales in the mid-1960s.

At present there are 12 affiliated clubs with more than 165 registered members, including junior teams, participating in two major team competitions in Autumn and Spring, and the district championships in July.  The competitions are organised into five divisions based on player skill levels.  The Association is one of the largest in New South Wales but its biggest challenge is the difficulty of attracting new players, especially youngsters, at a time when more and more choices in society are competing for time and attention.
